As time goes by, the formats our memories are stored on age and sometimes become difficult to read.

All those camcorder tapes from the ‘80s and ‘90s may still work, but do you even have a device to play them?

It’s good to check your collection regularly to see if you can see the contents, and should consider transferring them to a new format (such as digitizing those tapes!).

If you had an early digital video camera, make certain you can still play those files. Some of the early ones had proprietary file formats that are difficult to read today. CDs that held photos made 5, 10, or even 15 years ago may no longer be readable, so check those out too!
